Don Reagan, PT, DPT, CSCS

Physical Therapist

Education: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Liberty University, Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Science in San Diego.

Internship: Interned at Duke University Health System as an undergraduate in all areas of Physical Therapy with a special emphasis in Sports Medicine. He would later work as a performance coach performing objective testing for Duke Athletics as well as working with local athletes. While in graduate school he interned with the US Navy at Balboa Hospital performing Vestibular Rehabilitation and Rancho Physical Therapy performing Orthopedic Rehabilitation. His work experience includes Professional Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy in NYC. He regularly uses the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) in his practice. He is also a strength athlete with competitive experience in Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting. He is concurrently an Adjunct Professor at Liberty University in Exercise Science.

Katie Updike, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University, Norfolk VA

Internship: Prior to joining the OCCV hand therapy team, Katie completed her last clinical rotation at the University of Virginia’s Hand Center. While at UVA, she was able to work along side both surgeons and hand therapists. She has previous experience in acute care, skilled nursing and general outpatient orthopedics but knew early in hercareer that hand therapy is where she wanted to be. She is currently pursuing her hand therapy certification.

Internship: Prior to joining OCCVA, I gained 26 years of clinical experience including five years Acute Care in various hospitals and private clinics in Tamil Nadu, India, two years in Aberdeen and Pictou Hospitals (Nova Scotia, Canada), one year in Mercer Medical Center (Trenton, New Jersey), one year in The Memorial Hospital (Danville, Virginia), two years in Maryview Medical Center (Portsmouth, Virginia) and fifteen years of Orthopaedic experience from Portsmouth Orthopaedic Associates (Portsmouth, Virginia). In addition to working at Portsmouth Orthopaedic Associates, I also did Home Health Care with companies in Virginia Beach and Suffolk, Virginia. Also I have gained experience towards becoming a Myofascial Release specialist from various seminars given by John F. Barnes.

Steve Wiley, PT, ATC

Director of Therapy

Education: BA History University of Virginia, MS Physical Therapy, Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia

Internship: Prior to joining the staff here, Steve worked in Richmond, VA at Chippenham Sports Medicine clinic and assisted with rehabilitation of student-athletes at the University of Richmond athletic training room. He subsequently joined the athletic training staff at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He worked on a day to day basis as an assistant athletic trainer with Men's Soccer. He also served as the rehabilitation coordinator for all the varsity student-athletes at Wake Forest. While working with the Men's Soccer team, they won 2 regular season ACC championships, had two appearances in the College Cup, and won a National Championship. Steve's sports medicine experience includes working with the US Men's Indoor Field Hockey team. He provided coverage for that team at the Pan Am Games and the World Cup in Leipzig, Germany during the course of 2002-2003. Steve also served as the athletic trainer for the football team at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot High School in Richmond for 3 seasons. Currently, Steve is working with Liberty University in the Athletic Training room providing physical therapy services for their varsity athletes.

Internship: I began my career in the United States in 1995. After 2 years of traveling therapy where I worked in a number of skilled care and acute rehab facilities, I was employed at Centra Health where I worked in acute rehab, skilled care, Home health and out patient services. It was in out patient services, I discovered a love for Hand Therapy. In 2000, I was employed by Piedmont Orthopaedic Surgery. I obtained my Certification in Hand Therapy in November 2002. My focus since 1998/99 and has been on rehabilitation of the Upper Extremity and orthotic fabrication.
